The University of York was established in October 1963 with 230 students which expanded its campus in 1964 to marshy land around Wellington Hall. The University of York is one of the UK’s prestigious Russell Group universities, located in the historic city of York. • The university has issued some guidelines on the official website by taking information from the latest news by the government.
• If you are under self-isolation, it is advised to inform the university by filling out the student self-isolation form
• The university has canceled the Roses tournament and Summer Ball.
• The university has also provided financial support for the students facing problems in the Covid-19 pandemic.
• The university has also arranged an Emergency student support fund which provides financial support up to £500 (per applicant). This is for those students who are facing unanticipated financial challenges (more than 700 students have received help through this fund.

University of York Campus

• When the university was started it had only 3 buildings, 230 students and 28 staff (October 1963).
• The University of York Campus consists of nine colleges, more than 30 research centers and academic departments.
• Now the campus is about 500 acres (200 hectares).
• Many facilities are provided like shops for groceries, stationary, cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs, salon, and bank, in the heart of the campus for all staff, students and visitors. (including international groceries)
• It also has wildlife on its campus. The lake of the university is a popular place for many species (wild and semi-wild). These include Ducks, Geese, Swans, Grebes, Moorhens, Herons, Rabbits and Squirrels.
• University of York also has facilities like sports centers and fitness equipment stations.
• Campus also includes libraries, university computer rooms, study spaces, barbecues, 24/7 launderette, social spaces like common rooms, dining halls.

• Variety of room options are available to you.
• All the nine colleges namely Alcuin, Constantine, Derwent, Goodricke, Halifax, James, Langwith, Vanbrugh, and Wentworth have different types of accommodations.
• University accommodation also differs in types like:

• Shared bathroom self-catered
• Shared bathroom catered, etc.
• The prices of these rooms vary accordingly.
• All the bedrooms include the following facilities:-
• Wi-Fi and 100Mbs wired internet access (there is no download limit)

• University also provides residence for family and couples whose prices differ accordingly (type of housing chosen).

Note:-

• Shared bathroom has a wash basin and is shared with a flat. They are cleaned every weekday.
• Ensuite bedrooms have a toilet, wash basin and shower in the bedroom. They are cleaned periodically (you can also clean them).

Programs in University of York

• University offers over 300 programs (in a diverse range of subjects).
• Several programs are available like short courses, leadership and management programs, sector specific training courses, etc.
• The university also provides distance learning courses. The programs offered are in a range of subject areas like Archaeology, Computer Science, English Building, History, Railway Studies, Management, Art, etc.
