Lakehead University in Canada is a public research University and it has its campuses in Ontario, Thunder Bay and in Orillia. It offers variety of programs including the undergraduate programs, graduate programs, law programs and business programs. This university has around 45,000 alumni and the main campus is situated in Thunder Bay.

The University has 9 faculties including the business administration, education, engineering, Natural resource management, faculty of health and behavioral sciences, science and environmental studies, social sciences and humanities, medicine and graduate studies. Lakehead university also offers many scholarships to the international students and entrance scholarships to high school students.

Lakehead University Campus


There are two campuses of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Orillia.

The Thunder Bay campus is located in southwest Ontario. It has about 7900 students and has various educational facilities for them. It offers a wide range of professional courses in various fields like business, medicine, law, forestry, nursing, kinesiology, social work, etc. Thunder Bay has all the amenities of a large center combined with a small-town feel. The Thunder Bay campus has two athletics facilities known as the Fieldhouse and Hangar. The Fieldhouse contains a gymnasium, yoga room, swimming pool, and changing room facilities. The Hangar includes an indoor track, soccer field, cardio area, an aerobic studio, and a climbing wall.

The Orillia campus opened in 2006 and is located at a Heritage place in downtown Orillia. It has over 1400 students and offers various rare interdisciplinary courses to students. The campus features a 250-bed residence, a cafeteria, and a bookstore. Students have access to several recreational facilities available at the Orillia campus

Lakehead University Students

Lakehead University has around 7600 students enrolled with it. Lakehead is home to over 1500 international students from 70 nations worldwide. It offers several support services to students, including academic advice, health and counseling, tutoring, visa and immigration advice, financial aid, etc.

Lakehead University Faculty

Lakehead University has over 300 experienced faculty members. Each member is an expert in their field and offers valuable knowledge and insights to students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1 in the Thunder Bay Campus and 13:1 in the Orillia campus. Hence, students and teachers get to know each other well
